“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” —Fred Rogers
Hi! I'm Kelly Brooks, your Teaching Totes Oakland County specialist!
About me: I've been an early childhood educator for 20 years, working in both private and public school settings. My teaching certification includes a special endorsement through my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, and a Master's degree in the "Art of Teaching Reading". I have my own 4 year old son who I enjoy creating learning activities for as well! I’m so excited to curate themed, engaging learning materials for you and your child to enjoy together!
My Teaching Totes℠ focus on learning through play, discovering knowledge through developmental activities including process art and sensory play, and connecting concepts with quality books to explore! My passions as a teacher are inspiring early literacy skills, and making scientific practices accessible for young learners! I’m pleased to design activities within the tote to meet your child’s specific interests and learning style as well. I look forward to connecting with you, and providing authentic resources to enrich your child's early childhood learning experience!

TESTIMONIALS
“They really like it, and I’m surprised by how well it’s sticking with my 2 year old even! It’s also nice to have a bin to go to and just pull out a new activity, without having to put much thought into it!”
RACHEL K.
"Kelly's Teaching Totes are remarkable. I was blown away by just how many fun activities and toys were in there when we opened it up! My kids had a blast and I can't wait to rent our next one! Thank you so much, Kelly!!"
MARISA D.
“Kelly does an amazing job putting together these Totes! When I first ordered the Bugs Tote, I wasn’t sure my daughter would have the focus to really sit through an activity…to my amazement, she was hyper focused and engaged! She loved touching and exploring physical elements that coincided with the books provided in the tote! And potentially best of all, she learned to pick up after herself!! I am now a total fan of Teaching Totes and already ordered our next one!”
JESSICA P.
“Love this idea, such an awesome concept with a great person behind it! Kelly’s enthusiasm for learning and creativeness are contagious!”
